So, this 14 year old girl came up to me to ask about a book, but it soon turned out that she was asking on behalf of her friend, a 14 year old boy who felt embarrassed about his English, which he did not need to be. But such is teenagedom. See the screenshot for a peek into the conversation that ensued. :-)
And if you can guess which book/movie we are talking of, do take a shot at it below!

Mrs Westlake
Hmm. Summer. Library. 14 year olds. To Kill a Mockingbird? Assuming it was for school. Otherwise… Twilight? Ha.

It is for school, and thus TKAM is an excellent guess, but…. no, that’s not it. It’s a tough one, as it isn’t one I’ve ever seen assigned to high school kids before.
So I should give a hint. Hmm… let’s see… The author is of South Asian origin.

Mrs. Westlake
South Asian author’s books made into a film… The Namesake? Interesting choice for 14 year olds. I would think a great book maybe for older high schoolers, especially in an immigrant community.

Ding, ding, ding! You are correct, Mrs. Westlake! I like how you think~ perhaps that’s a result of my former-middle-school-teacher-ness? :-)
